Charlotte Eagles News Release

In the spring of 2003, three young filmmakers traveled to Africa in search of a story. What started out as a filmmaking adventure transformed into much more when these boys from Southern California discovered a tragedy that disgusted and inspired them - a tragedy where children are both the weapons and the victims

After returning to the States, they created the documentary "Invisible Children: Rough Cut", a film that exposes the tragic realities of northern Uganda's night commuters and child soldiers. It was this group and film that inspired the Charlotte Eagles, Charlotte's professional soccer team, to travel to Uganda and experience the story for themselves. What they saw shocked them. It also inspired them to come back, tell their story, and rally their community to make a difference.

On Saturday, April 12th, the Eagles are teaming up with Invisible Children as part of their "Fight the War in Africa Tour" to tell their story and show the documentary film at Freedom Park's Amphitheater. The night's events will include:

7-8pm: -IC Mid-Atlantic Tour Team Presentation -Slideshow of Eagles trip to Gulu, Uganda -Stories from Eagles about northern Uganda trip -Testimony from Ugandan native and Eagles star forward Robert Ssejjemba -Bracelet media presentation and opportunity to buy merchandise including bracelets, bracelet media, and "Invisible Children: Discover the Unseen" documentary film
