Titans Win Third Straight, Defeat Brewster 7-1

DANBURY, CT -- The Danbury Titans and Brewster Bulldogs met for the second time in as many nights on a bitterly cold Saturday evening in the Hat City. Danbury skated away with their second victory, dominating the Bulldogs 7-1. Ryan Patsch would record a hat trick, Kory Helowka would score 2 goals himself, and Nick Niedert made 29 saves to record his 7th victory of the season.

Danbury would get on the board early as Ryan Patsch would score his 14th of the season at the 3:08 mark, with Tyler Gjurich and goaltender Nick Niedert receiving assists. Kory Helowka would extend the lead to two with his 13th of the year, assisted by Dean Yakura and Aaron Atwell. The tension was high, and John Scully of Brewster attempted to fight Ryan Patsch immediately on the proceeding faceoff. Scully had dropped the gloves and chased after Patsch, drawing the attention everyone on the ice, including the goaltenders. Both Nick Niedert and James Robbins would receive penalties for leaving their crease, and Scully was assessed 2 minutes for instigating, 5 for fighting, and a game misconduct. Tyler Gjurich would score an the ensuing power play, assisted by Steve Brown and Brett Liscomb. Mike Dirscoll would finish the scoring for the Titans with John Scorcia and Liscomb getting the helpers. Danbury outshot the Bulldogs 18-8 in the first period.

The Titans would score their 5th unanswered goal and 8th in a row from yesterday's game 6:38 into the second period as Ryan Patsch scored his second of the game. It was a power play goal, assisted by Helowka and Matt Caranci. In the third, Nicolai Oklolbistyn would finally get the Bulldogs on the board, but Helowka and Patsch would respond for the final score. Ultimately, Danbury outshot Brewster 49-30, and the Titans were 2-5 on the power play. The Titans will be in action again tomorrow afternoon with a 5pm faceoff against the Berlin RiverDrivers. Prowlers Pull Away from Dashers 5-2

(Port Huron, MI) Part III of a weekend series between Danville and Port Huron would end up in the Prowlers taking two of three games from Danville. Prowlers get the victory 5-2

This time it was the Prowlers who would own the first goal of the game Jared Hicks would net the ice breaker on the power play as he deflected a point shot from Justin Alonzo that got by Matt Anthony. Danville would answer on a power play of their own. Ryan Stouffer would bury a rebound opportunity that came off a shot from Brad Denney 3:24 after the Alonzo goal both teams would be tied at 1 going into the locker room after the 1st period.

2nd period would be all Prowlers Austin Daae would net his 2nd goal in as many nights and it would be the go-ahead goal in the 2nd period coming from the stick of Roger Tagoona. Newly acquired Prowler Zach Tatrn would register his first goal as a member of the Prowlers it came with 2:09 left to go in the 2nd period and it came off the sticks of Chris Leveille and Matt Fuller. It would be Leveille's 2nd assist of the night, and the Prowlers would go up 3-1 and take that lead into the dressing room afer the 2nd frame.

Danville would respond in the third period Justin Levac would cut the Prowler lead in half on the Dashers 5th power play of the night. It would bring Danville within a goal with 7:24 left to go in the 3rd. 1:58 later Zach Tatrn would freeze off all the worry warts, for Prowler fans. He would score again for his 2nd goal of the night. Len Pelletier would add an empty net goal and it was the cherry on top of the sundae for the Prowlers, who for the first time this season beat the Dashers in back-to-back games. Matt Anthony would finish his night with 32 saves on 37 shots. Dan McWhinney gets his 2nd win in a row making 32 saves on 34 shots. The two teams will face off again Fri, February 19th in Danville.

Riverdrivers Streak Now 5, Down Demolition 4-3

The Berlin Riverdrivers make it 5 in a row with tonight's victory over the Dayton Demolition. Berlin jumped out to a four goal lead and was able to shutdown a comeback from the Demolition.

The Riverdrivers left off where they finished the night before scoring 3 times in the first period. At 6:01 of the first it was Brantley Sherwood who gave the Riverdrivers the early 1-0 lead with assists going to Pavel Kubena and Matias Simontival. After a few mintues of back and forth hockey, Berlin extended their lead to 3-0 with two goals coming a mere 24 seconds apart. Berlin's second goal coming at 10:09 of the first as Stephen Gallo ringing it of the post coming from Sherwood and Jiri Pestuka. Then at 10:33 Berlin's Tyler Prendergast found the back of the net with assists going to Tom Tracy and Andre Niec. Berlin would head to the locker room after one period with a 3-0 lead.

The second period was a quite one with each team getting a goal a piece. At 7:26 of the second Riverdrivers Tracy went bar down short side over the shoulder of the Dayton net minder with Gallo and Prendergast getting credit for assists on the play. From there on out the Demolition tried to mount a comeback but came up short. Dayton's first goal at 12:46 on the powerplay scored by Brian Marks, assisted by Martin Uhnak and Shea Carey. That would do it for the second period with the Riverdrivers leading the Demolition 4-1.

The third period was battle as Dayton was able to cut the Berlin lead to one. At 8:23 of the third Dayton made it 4-2 when Carey found the back of the net on the pass from Uhnak. Then at 13:40 into the third Jacques Lamoureux made it 4-3 as he stuffed home the rebound with Mike Henderson and Michael Dolman getting assists. That would pretty much do it for the rest of regulation as the Riverdrivers were able to shut down the comeback and skate off the ice with the win. Berlin takes their 5 game win streak on the road tomorrow where they square off with the Brewster Bulldogs. Game time is 5:00pm in Brewster, New York.
