Demolition Honor the Military, Sinks Brewster 6-2
By Lee W. Mowen
DAYTON, OHIO - The Dayton Demolition honored our nation's military with a special night, a special jersey, and a 6-2 unleashing on the Brewster Bulldogs.
Dayton got on the board in the midst of the 1st, with Tom Tracy lighting the lamp for the fourth time this season. Tracy's tally was part of a 5-on-4 Power Play, just after an expiring two-man advantage. Just nineteen seconds after the Demolition goal, Brewster answered back with Nicolai Oklolbistyn's second of the year on a re-direct back, passing by Brian Haude. After twenty minutes ticked off the scoreboard, both teams had one goal apiece.
In the 2nd period, Dayton took the lead that never relinquished for the match. The Demolition's Martin Uhnak scored his first of the year, on a comeback pass from the goal line from Michael Dolman and Tom Tracy at the 9:53 mark. Dayton added one more from Cody Milligan (his 3rd tally and a Power Play score) with some help for Rich Ledy's third assist. Dayton led 3-1 after two periods.
The 3rd period brought the fireworks you'd expect from a 4th of July celebration, with a couple of multi-player fights and some Empty-Netter goals for Dayton. At the 5:34 mark, Dayton's Tristian Lysko and Brewster's Ryan Dolence tangled together after a previous fight. Both gentlemen were issued Game Misconducts for that late fight. Fans would wait until the 16:58 for the next blast of goal horns, with Derrick Schwartz hitting in the third Power Play goal for the Demolition on the night. Brewster got one last goal after another massive tangle between Jide Idowu (DAY) and the Bulldogs' MJ Graham. John Scully scratches home a goal to close the deal to a Dayton 4-2 lead at the 17:56 mark.
Dayton would take advantage on Coach David Lun's aggressiveness with the Extra Attacker, which began with 4:48 to go in the 3rd. Derrick Schwartz and Michael Lipari would cash in to finish a 6-2 victory over Brewster.
With the Dayton win, the Demolition improved to 2-2-2 and 2-0 against teams from the Northeast. Brewster fell to 0-3 against Midwest teams and 2-4 overall. Dayton out-shot Brewster 55-32 for the game. The Demolition now make the short trip to Danville on Sunday before hosting the same Dasher crew on Friday, November 27th at 7:30.
Prowlers Snap Dashers 5 Game Winning Streak, 3-1
By Easton Hoskins
The Port Huron Prowlers came into the David S. Palmer arena with loads momentum, after scoring four goals in the final period of their contest last night against the Dayton Demolition. However, the Dashers also extended their win streak to five games last night after a win against the Brewster Bulldogs. With both teams coming in hot, we expected this to be a fun contest, and it was just that.
After watching one of the most up-tempo first periods between two hockey teams that I have ever seen, both teams went into the locker room tied at zero.
" We started off well, both teams started off well really, it was a very faced pace hockey game and having three games in three days seemed to hurt us as we got tired down the stretch." said Foreward Justin Levac, when asked about the tempo of the contest.
The first half of the second period was as up-tempo, and high pace for both teams, but after the 10 minute media timeout, the wheels just seemed to fall off for the Dashers. They surrendered three goals in a nine minute stretch, and found themselves down three to zero after two periods. Skinner, Vanwysberghe, and Soskin scored in the second period for Port Huron respectively. Matt Fuller assisted on two of the three goals for Port Huron.
The Dashers stopped the bleeding in the third period, and even attempted to mount a comeback. They cut into the Prowlers lead when Rock Einersen tapped in a rebound from the side of the net, that Prowlers goaltender Curtis Martinu thought he had controlled after a hard wrist shot from Gehrett Sargis. The tap in cut the Port Huron lead to 3-1.
With 2:46 to go in the game, Danville trailing by two goals, Dustin Skinner went to the penalty box for interference and gave the Dashers a late power play opportunity. Martinu shined in net for the Prowlers the entire nigh, and nothing changed, and he came up big on the Port Huron penalty kill. The Dashers would go on to drop their first contest of the season, 3-1 being the final.
" It was a good hockey game, and it should have ended up 1-0, but we just came out on the wrong end of it. We made two mistakes, and you just can' t make mistakes to good hockey teams. We never quit, and I liked that out of our guys. This was the first time we have faced adversity on the season, so I really liked that out of my guys.", said Coach Steve Harrison.
" It' s our first loss of the season, and we will move on from it. Last season, we started very poorly and faced the adversity head on, and that mentality is what allowed us to finish so hot, and go far in the playoffs.", added Levac when asked about building off of tonights loss.
The Dashers are next in action at the David S. Palmer Arena tonight (Sunday), as they take on the Dayton Demolition at 5:05.

DANBURY - The Danbury Titans began their weekend at home with a 6-2 win against the Berlin River Drivers.
Danbury came out hot as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead over Berlin. Zach Tatrn came down the wing and put the puck past Berlin's Brad Barone just 3:25 into the game. Shortly after, John Scorcia scored his first professional goal after picking up a rebound left in front and threw it in the net. Ryan Patsch continued the streak with a move to the outside and fired a shot to the far side that found the back of the net.
Berlin answered back in the second when Curtis Warren got the puck by goaltender Nick Niedert for a shorthanded goal. The River Drivers kept buzzing and scored another goal on a deflection in front by Cody Dion to bring the score to 3-2.
The third period belonged to the Titans. Tatrn scored his second of the game just over six minutes in and Brett Liscomb drilled a slapshot home to make it 5-2 with 3:59 left. Dean Yakura sealed the deal with 23 seconds remaining in the game.
