Dashers Complete Weekend Sweep
By Easton Hoskins
After a 5-4 win over Berlin on Thursday, and a 8-3 win on Friday night, the Danville Dashers completed the weekend sweep of the Berlin River Drivers, and the Dayton Demolition, with last nights score being 5-3. Matt Anthony stopped 36 shots in the game, in route to his ninth win of the season.
" I think we did a good job on our defensive zone tonight. We covered our D zone extensively this week in practice, and when we are all on the same page, it makes it much easier on me. The guys played great in front of me tonight, and we earned the win. " said goaltender Matt Anthony.
The Dashers found themselves up 3-2, early in the final period when A.J. Tesoriero tapped in a beautiful pass from recent addition, Lester Brown. This would ultimately be the game winning goal. However, this wouldn't be the only time tonight Brown would make magic happen, later in the period he and Gehrett Sargis had a two on one opportunity, and Brown fed Sargis with a between the legs pass. That goal iced the game for the Dashers.
" It was a good pass, the thing with Browny (Brown) is, he is a high energy, up tempo guy, and the guys feed off of him on the bench. He is someone that you can expect 100% each shift, he is smart enough to chip in on offense, but responsible enough to be strong on defense. " said assistant captain Justin Levac about Brown ' s play.
Justin Brausen, Justin Levac, Rock Einerson, the fore mentioned Tesoriero and Sargs all scored for Danville in the win. The Dashers have scored 18 goals over the three game weekend sweep.
" We have always been able to score goals, it is just when we get opportunities we are burring them right now. We just have to keep playing well away from the puck, because that is what is giving us the opportunities. " said Head Coach Steve Harrison about his teams offensive outburst over the past two games.
" Good teams take the good things and build on them. We have a bit of a rest coming here, but we can ' t take any steps back here, but only continue to move forward. With the talent that we have in the room here, I think we will be fine. " said Harrison.
The FHL leading Dashers are on the road for two games in Brewster and Danbury this up coming weekend, but back in action at home on December 23rd against the Port Huron Prowlers at 7:05.

Titans Win Second Straight Over Brewster 5-1
By Zak McGinniss
DANBURY, CT -- The Danbury Titans and Brewster Bulldogs met for the third consecutive night Saturday with each team winning one game so far in the weekend. Thursday night saw the Bulldogs come to Danbury and escape with a 4-3 victory, while last night's game in Brewster was the Titan's revenge, dominating the Bulldogs with an 11-3 score. Tim Richter made his Titan debut memorable with a hat trick in front of his home state's fans as the Danbury Titans rolled to a 5-1 victory.
Tyler Gjurich would score twice in the opening period with both goals coming on the power play. For Gjurich, his 18th goal of the season was assisted by Ryan Patsch and John Scorcia, while his 19th was assisted by Bryan Dallaire and Dean Yakura. Danbury's roll would continue with Tim Richter's first of the season two minutes, later, as he deflected a Frank Schumacher shot from the point and past Brewster's James Robbins. Notably, Danbury outshot Brewster 22-8 in the period. In yesterday's game between these two teams, Danbury recorded 20 shots on goal in the first period and scored five times.
Richter would continue to make up for lost time by scoring his second of the season 8:11 into the second, assisted by John Scorcia and Dean Yakura. Brewster would finally get on the board with a power play goal from Ian Delong. Delong was posted off to the side of the net, and he was in position to redirect Sean Maktaak's shot from the blueline past Titans' goaltender Nick Niedert. Richter would complete the hat trick in his first game in a Danbury Titans uniform four minutes later, assisted by Kory Helowka and Bryan Dallaire.
No goals were scored in the third, but that was not for a lack of action. Rather, the period was marked by a pair of shots and penalties assessed both teams. For the fights, first Kory Helowka and John Scully came together after Scully took a run at Aaron Atwell after Atwell has already passed the puck. The second fight was between Atwell and Chris Wilcox. The fight was precipitated by Wilcox's blind elbow to the face of Atwell, knocking Atwell to the ice. He would eventually get up under his own power and seek out Wilcox to even the score. Atwell would receive major penalties for roughing and fighting, he also received and a game misconduct.
For their efforts, Nick Niedert received the third star of the game, stopping 24 of 25 shots. Tyler Gjurich's 2 goals were good enough to earn him second star honors, while Naugatuck's own Tim Richter was awarded the first star. The Titans remain in 2nd place in the league with the victory, trailing the Danville Dashers by 4 points. The Danbury Titans will be in action again next Saturday, December 19th, playing host to the Danville Dashers. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:35pm, and tickets are still available by calling 844-DT-HOCKEY.
