Kennewick WA â The Tri-Cities Fever begin their quest for the National Indoor Football League Championship this Saturday, March 26th, as they host the Corpus Christi (Texas) Hammerheads. This is the first of seven Fever home games scheduled for the Three River Coliseum.
This will be the first game in franchise history for the Fever and the second for the Hammerheads after joining the NIFL from the defunct Intense Football League. The Fever are led by 25 year veteran Head Coach, Jack Craig Beverlin. Head coach for the Hammerheads is first year coach, Jason McKinley. The Hammerheads enter the season with a 1-0 record after defeating the San Angelo (Texas) Gunslingers in their opening game on Monday. Last years IFL record was 8-8.
Key players for the Fever to watch in this first game are: Brian Meier/WR 4 yr. NIFL Veteran (Billings Outlaws), Jeremy Bohannon/Safety (WSU), Jarvis Dunn/RB (NIFL, Houma Bayou Bucks), Ron Childs/LB (Kansas City Chiefs & New Orleans Saints), Mike Riggell/WR (NIFL, Utah Warriors), Mike Romero/DE (CWU), Nick Iano/WR (AF2), Ray Marshall/OL (NIFL, Myrtle Beach Stingrays).
For the Hammerheads, key players returning: QB Chris Harrington, WR Martin Dossett, DB Roy Salas, DB Rod Green. Key off-season additions (2004 Team): RB/LB Mike Green (San Angelo),DB Carl Greenwood (Dallas Desperados-AFL), C John Schall (Cincinnati- NFL)
For the fans a pre-game tailgate party on the East side of the coliseum. Tailgate party is sponsored by 97 Rock and Budweiser. 97 Rock will have a live remote and music.  Dinner menus will be available and food will be served by Centerplate. It is open to all ages. Pepsi will also be serving. It starts at 4:30.  Pre-game ceremonies are set to begin at 6:35.  Pre-game will feature Harleys, Dancers, Players, and a Color Guard. A mini chopper will be raffled off at the game. Raffle tickets are $2.00 with the proceeds going to benefit the Benton Franklin Counties United Way. The first elimination of the Win A "Hot" Date With The Dance Team will take place at half time. Promos will take place for fans to get a chance to win prizes and gift certificates throughout the game. Dasher board bingo cards will be available at the game. Dasher board bingo cards are $1 and feature discounts from area businesses. Proceeds from the Bingo cards benefit local area schools. Those playing will get a chance to win a prize from our merchandise booth.
Kickoff for the game is set for 7:05 pm at the Three Rivers Coliseum. Tickets are available through the Three Rivers Coliseum box office and start at $15.
