Fever Begin Three-Game Road Trip in Seattle

July 17, 2022 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Indiana Fever News Release

The Indiana Fever will face Seattle for the third and final time this season on Sunday night at the Climate Pledge Arena. Seattle earned the victory in the first two outings, winning by an average of 19 points.

In their most recent matchup on July 5, Seattle defeated Indiana 95-73. Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 21 points. Fever rookie forward NaLyssa Smith finished with 14 points and guard Danielle Robinson added 11 points.

Storm guards Sue Bird and Briann January played their last game in Indiana, as both veterans will retire at the end of the season. January, who played her first nine seasons with Indiana, is considered the most prolific point guard in Fever history. She sits in the top five in several of the statistical categories and was a starter on the 2012 championship team. Bird will retire as the league's winningest player in history in addition to being the all-time assists leader.

For Sunday's game, newly acquired guard/forward Rennia Davis will be available. The No. 9 overall pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft, Davis missed her entire rookie season due to a stress fracture in her left foot. At her alma-mater, the University of Tennessee, Davis played 118 career games where she averaged 15.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. At the end of her college career, she became just the fourth Lady Vol - first three were Chamique Holdsclaw, Candace Parker and Tamika Catchings - to rank top-10 in points (ninth, 1,815), points per game (ninth, 15.4), rebounds (10th, 947) and rebounds per game (sixth, 8.1).

Sunday's game will also be streamed on the official Indiana Fever Facebook page in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. When the Fever return home after their three-game road trip out west, they will play their remaining home games at Hinkle Fieldhouse, the home of the Butler University Bulldogs.
