Wolves Clinch Top Seat in FHL with Win Over Berkshire
After losing to the Berkshire Battalion last night, the 1st place Watertown Wolves looked for vindication against Berkshire in their last home game of the regular season at the Watertown Municipal Ice Arena. The Battalion looked to shake up the playoff brackets as a win for them would move Watertown down to 2nd place.
Each team started the game with strong defense and good goaltending. Lucas LaBelle would break through the Battalion defense with help from Cody Dion and Justin Alonzo to score the first goal of the game with 6:32 left in the first period.
Martin Uhnak would tie the game up for the Battalion with a successful wrap-around shot six minutes into the second period. Dylan O'Neil would put the Wolves back on top with a pass from Aaron Atwell. Mike Donnellan extended the Wolves' lead to 3-1 with an assist from Lucas LaBelle.
The action continued to heat up in the third period. Berkshire's Robert Morton would narrow Watertown's lead with an assist from Michael Kaselouskas. Watertown continued their domination with a goal from Cody Dion and two from Chad Bennett. The last goal of the night was scored by Morton of the Battalion to make the final score of the game 6-3. Watertown made 42 shots on goal to Berkshire's 37.
The 1st place Watertown Wolves' next home game will be a semi-final game against the 4th place Danbury Whalers at the Watertown Municipal Arena on Sunday, March 15th. The puck drops at 5:00.
