FCE Match Preview vs. Jacksonville Armada FC
October 24, 2015 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
FC Edmonton News Release
EDMONTON, AB - FC Edmonton (7-4-8) welcomes Jacksonville Armada FC (5-3-10) for the final game of their 2015 North American Soccer League (NASL) season, Oct. 25 at Clarke Field at 2:00 p.m. MT. It is the second of back-to-back matches for the two sides, who put on a thrilling 3-2 contest last weekend at Community First Park in Florida.
The Eddies endured a gruelling three-game, seven day road trip that concluded last week against Armada FC. The team was unable to capture the points needed to stay in the postseason conversation and were officially eliminated from postseason qualification following Fort Lauderdale Strikers' scoreless draw against San Antonio Scorpions on Wednesday night.
Jacksonville's inability to win on the road throughout the entirety of their inaugural NASL season is a major factor the team will be on the outside of the NASL postseason picture this season. The Florida based team were riding a four-game undefeated streak heading into their most recent match on Oct. 21 that included three victories and a draw, but they were unable to withstand Ottawa Fury FC's offence, falling 3-1 to the Fall Season Champions to end their postseason ambitions.
Edmonton and Jacksonville have met twice this season, with Jacksonville collecting all six points from the Eddies. The initial meeting of the season ended with a 3-1 Armada victory in the Eddies 2015 NASL Season Opener. More recently, the two teams engaged in an entertaining 3-2 match that ended in Jacksonville's favour and all but ended Edmonton's hopes of a postseason berth. With nothing to lose for either side this weekend, Sunday's match has the potential to be yet another entertaining fixture.
"We will give it maximum effort here to finish the season on a high with a positive result and positive performance," FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller stated. "We owe it to our owners Tom and Dave Fath and to our fans who have been fantastic this season. We will do all we can to get a positive result and finish this season on a high."
Sunday's match is Fan Appreciation Day for Eddies fans! Attending fans will be provided with a variety of partner coupons and items as they enter and leave Sunday's match. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m. at Clarke Field.
