
FCC Ends Season, Begins Work Towards 2018

SEASON WRAP UP
FCC's second season came to an end following a 3-0 loss to Tampa Bay Rowdies in the USL Quarterfinals.
The team was unable to overcome a pair of first-half goals and went on to allow three goals for the fourth time this year.
FCC ended the regular season sixth in the Eastern Conference standings and finished 12-11-10 with the playoff defeat.
FCC scored three or more goals six times, tallying a single-game record of four goals three times (Saint Louis FC, New York Red Bulls II, Toronto FC II).
The Orange and Blue did have a magical run in the U.S. Open Cup, going 5-1 in the single-game knockout tournament.
FCC defeated AFC Cleveland, USL rival Louisville City FC, MLS sides Columbus Crew and Chicago Fire SC before dispatching NASL champion Miami FC to advance to the Cup semifinal against New York Red Bulls.
ROSTER MOVEMENT
Following the conclusion of the season, FCC announced roster transactions in a press conference, bringing back nine players for the 2018 campaign.
FCC has exercised the 2018 option for Matt Bahner, Garrett Halfhill, Justin Hoyte and Kenney Walker and re-signed Corben Bone, Danni Konig and Jimmy McLaughlin.
Josu inked an extension this past August and he and Sem de Wit, a mid-season addition remain under contract.
DJIBY, K=D6NIG CARRY LIONS SHARE
Djiby and Danni König were the team's leaders in scoring, combining for 23 of the side's 46 goals.
Djiby, with an even dozen, tied for 11th in the league in goals scored while Konig tied for 15th with 11 tallies.
Jimmy McLaughlin followed with give goals to finish third on the team.
In total, 13 players tallied at least one goal.
Kenney Walker ended the season with a team-high seven assists to tie for 13th among the league leaders.
Mitch Hildebrandt ends the season as the USL's saves leader with 105.
Hildebrandt also just missed the 10 with seven clean sheets, coming in at a tie for 11th.
ATTENDANCE RECORDS
FCC re-wrote attendance figures in both the USL and the U.S. Open Cup.
The club's regular-season home finale against New York Red Bulls II drew 30,417, setting a new USL single-season record.
FCC drew over 20,000 fans in 11 fixtures and over 15,000 in all but two contests to t total over 345,000 fans in 16 league games.
FCC beat Chicago Fire SC on penalty kicks in front of 32,287 fans, the third-highest attendance in Cup history.
The Orange and Blue then drew 33,250 against New York Red Bulls, the highest-attendance Cup match for a non-final.
MORE CUP RECORDS
FCC goalie Mitch Hildebrandt established a new U.S. Open Cup record by logging a personal shutout streak of 543 minutes.
He also owns the individual single-game tournament, modern-era shutout mark of 464 minutes.
The club also now boasts the team single tournament shutout record of 584 minutes with Dallas Jaye posting a 1-0 clean sheet against AFC Cleveland.
HILDEBRANDT EARNS CUP AWARD
Hildebrandt made headlines with a personal and single-tournament shutout streak in the Cup tournament and also punctuated the team's win over Fire SC by stopping three penalty kicks.
Hildebrandt denied Mitch Hildebrandt turned away Nemanja Nikolic, Arturo Alvarez and Juninho to seal the win with only Bastien Schweinsteiger tucking away his PK try.
For his efforts, Hildebrandt was voted TheCup.us Lower Division Player of the Tournament and was a finalist for the overall award.
TEAM AWARDS
FCC doled out five team awards this week with Kenney Walker coming away with the Most Valuable Player title.
