FC Tulsa to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Night at ONEOK Field on Saturday
October 5, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release
TULSA - FC Tulsa is partnering with Festival of the Americas and Que Buena Tulsa to celebrate its second annual Hispanic Heritage Night at ONEOK Field on Saturday, October 9 during its match against El Paso Locomotive FC. Starting with Oklahoma's premier Hispanic and Latino Cultural Festival, the night will be full of fun, including food trucks, live music, vendor booths around the stadium and an adult Hispanic league match on the pitch at ONEOK Field following the FC Tulsa match, which is presented by Arvest Bank.
"We started the tradition of a Hispanic Heritage Night last season and are thrilled to continue celebrating those in our community who came to Tulsa from Hispanic countries around the globe," said FC Tulsa president James Cannon. "We are upping the ante this year by hosting Festival of the Americas and inviting over 20 different vendors to set up at ONEOK Field. Like Tulsa, soccer is a melting pot for all cultures, and it is important to me that we recognize and celebrate this at our matches."
The free celebration will kick off at 2 p.m. CT with Festival of the Americas at ONEOK Field. Around 20 vendors will be set up inside ONEOK Field, selling authentic Hispanic art, crafts and goods. On Elgin Ave., a music stage will showcase Hispanic artists and bands throughout the afternoon and several food trucks will be serving food from Central and South America.
"We are thrilled to partner with FC Tulsa this year to celebrate the diverse cultures of our Hispanic and Latino community that are central to the heartbeat of our community," said Rodrigo Rojas, president and founder of Festival of the Americas. "This year's festival will bring a unique match experience during Hispanic Heritage Month and further our mission of celebrating and inspiring our Hispanic culture and heritage."
When gates to FC Tulsa's match open at 6 p.m. CT, the Festival will fully move inside the stadium and be available to those with a ticket to the match.
FC Tulsa vs. El Paso is just the first of two matches that will be played on the ONEOK Field pitch on Saturday. Following the USL Championship contest and Fireworks Show, the stadium will host a Independencia La LIGA match. The local Tulsa adult league will send out the Independencia All Stars to play against Guerrero, and all fans with tickets to FC Tulsa's match are invited to stay and cheer on the teams.
Tickets for FCTulsa's match against El Paso are available now and start at only $10. Tickets not only get you access to both matches, but to the Festival of the Americas after 6 p.m. CT.
