FC Tulsa Focused on Securing First Three-Match Road Win Streak in Club History
August 21, 2020 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release
TULSA - Well. Well. Well. How the turntables...
The top two teams in the USL Championship's Group D will face off for the second time in 10 days, but this time, it will be FC Tulsa making the roadtrip as the club heads down to Alamo City for a Saturday night samba with San Antonio FC.
Last Wednesday, August 12, the sides split the spoils in a 0-0 draw as defenses proved dominant in FC Tulsa's 2020 home opener at ONEOK Field.
Like the midweek match 10 days ago, this one has major standings implications for the two unbeaten teams. A San Antonio win could all but lock down Group D for the hosts while FC Tulsa can get back in the race for the top spot with a win of its own.
Attached are FC Tulsa match notes and below are quotes about Saturday's match from midfielder Lebo Moloto and forward Darî - o Suárez following FC Tulsa's midweek draw vs. Austin Bold FC .
ABOUT SAN ANTONIO FC
Not much has changed about San Antonio FC in the 10 days since FC Tulsa last faced them. They are still a good team, dynamo Cristian Parano still plays for them, and SAFC still lead Group D. FC Tulsa fans will all be pleased with San Antonio's result on Wednesday as it hung a four spot on FC Tulsa rival, OKC Energy FC in a 4-0 win.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday could provide another historical feather in FC Tulsa's scissor-tailed plume. FC Tulsa has never won in San Antonio. After four consecutive losses at Toyota Field, Tulsa has earned back-to-back 1-1 draws against San Antonio on the road. Overall, SAFC leads the series with six wins to FC Tulsa's three.
RECORD SETTERS
Not only has 2020 provided FC Tulsa with the best start in club history, it's the first time that a Tulsa USL Championship team has ever had a six-match unbeaten streak. The previous high for the club was five matches set three different times, once each in the 2016, 2018 and 2019 seasons.
GROUP D STANDINGS
San Antonio 5-0-3 18 pts
FC Tulsa 2-0-4 10 pts
Austin Bold FC 2-2-2 8 pts
OKC Energy FC 1-4-3 6 pts
Rio Grande Valley FC 0-5-3 3 pts
HOW TO TUNE IN
The match will be broadcast on TV locally on My41 Tulsa and nationally streamed on ESPN+. You can follow @FCTulsa on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook for updates and highlights throughout the match.
