FC Tucson News Release

FC Tucson continues its playoff push this Saturday as it celebrates Southern Arizona Heritage Night presented by Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The club takes on North Texas SC in the USL League One.

As part of the evening, special entertainment will be provided by Mariachi Los Diablos and the Cienega High School Folklorico. The team will wear a special one-time 'El Jefe' jersey, inspired by Tucson's sunsets and the elusive jaguar that's been spotted in the Sonoran Mountains. The jersey was designed by local supporter Ramses Abud.

"Being first-generation American, native to Southern Arizona and the Sonoran desert, it's the one thing that I can celebrate both from my Mexican and my American side," Abud said. "It's kind of hard to put into words what it means to me, to watch my club that I've been representing and have them represent my logo, my design.

"It's really special, it's really powerful. What a better way to continue this legacy of the jaguar, of the club."

FC Tucson will auction off the autographed player-worn jerseys next week.

The club will host North Texas SC for the fourth time this season on Saturday. In its previous meetings with North Texas, the club has racked up two draws and one loss.

In their last meeting, North Texas defender, Kazu, broke the deadlock in the 77 minute. Deri Corfe brought the game level a few minutes later by knocking the ball in from close range after a cross by Noah Franke. The game ended 1-1.

North Texas is 7-7-9 and sits sixth in the league, just above the playoff cutline. FC Tucson is 9-8-6 and is third in the league with 33 points, only three points more than North Texas.

With the top six teams qualifying for the playoffs, FC Tucson is not only in line to play in the postseason in November, it is looking to lock up a home game in the first round of the playoffs on the Nov. 6-7 weekend.

Six different players have scored during Tucson's recent unbeaten streak and seven players have registered an assist, led by Charlie Dennis' five goals and three assists.

The team's exciting attacking style has produced results. FC Tucson leads USL League One in goals.

The club is also home on Wednesday, Oct. 13, for Fuerza Frontline Workers Night, and Saturday, Oct. 16, before finishing up at home on Saturday, Oct. 30, with Fan Appreciation Night. All home games are played at Kino North Stadium, with gates opening at 6 p.m. and kickoff at 7 p.m.
