FC Kansas City and Western New York Flash Kick off the First of Two Back-To-Back Matches

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 7, 2015) - FC Kansas City will visit Sahlen's Stadium on Friday to face Western New York in the team's second of a two-game road trip and the first of two back-to-back matches against the Flash. Both teams are coming from earning solid victories. Kansas City defeated the Houston Dash at the BBVA Compass Stadium 2-0 with goals from Liz Bogus and Shea Groom. On the other hand, the Flash secured their first victory of the season with three unanswered goals as they rallied for a 3-1 win over the Boston Breakers in their home opener.

Blues coach Vlatko Andonovski will be looking to forward Sarah Hagen as well as midfielder Erika Tymrak to lead his team as FC Kansas City will begin a stretch without midfielders Lauren Holiday and Heather O'Reilly, forward Amy Rodriguez and defender Becky Sauerbrunn - all of whom will be training with the U.S. Women's National Team ahead of the 2015 FIFA World Cup in Canada.

The Flash will also be looking to their young corps of players brought in during the draft while playing without forward Sydney Leroux and defender Whitney Engen.

FC Kansas City and Western NY Flash have each scored a total of four goals with all of them coming from different players.

Last weekend, Groom scored her first professional goal, while Bogus notched the winning tally. In addition, Hagen recorded her second assist in three games. The two other goals came from O'Reilly in Week 2 and Rodriguez in Week 3.

This will be the sixth time both teams meet on the field. The last time FCKC visited the Flash, the match ended in a 1-1 draw on July 18, 2014. In addition, New York leads the All-time series 2-1-2.

The game will feature the latest NWSL Player of the Week winner Becky Edwards who helped her team defeat Boston last week by scoring a goal and adding an assist. Also, goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart will be looking to record her third consecutive clean sheet.
