FC Edmonton News Release
Tampa, FL* - The road has been friendly to Edmonton's newest professional soccer team and FC Edmonton hopes the success continues when they take on FC Tampa Bay at Al Lang Stadium tomorrow night (5 p.m. Mountain/ www.fcedmonton.com).
The team has played five league games so far, four of them have been on the road and they've won three of them. Their only road loss came against the RailHawks in Carolina. And their winning ways on the road continued in Atlanta on Saturday.
"That win was good for the players' morale," said head coach Harry Sinkgraven. "It gives the guys confidence again and we're ready to play the last game on this road trip against Tampa Bay."
The win against the Silverbacks on Saturday (2-0) snapped a two-game NASL losing streak, in which the team failed to score a goal.
Forward Paul Craig netted his first goal of the season in his first start and Kyle Porter followed that up with his own first, assisted by Craig.
"It went well," Craig said modestly. "It was a good experience obviously getting my first goal and first assist but what's even more important is that the team got back to winning."
Lance Parker had a great game in net for the team and both he and Craig were runners up in NASL player of the week voting.
This is the last of three straight home matches for FC Tampa Bay. They tied Atlanta (1-1) and lost to the RailHawks (3-1) in their last outing.
FC Tampa Bay travels to Fort Lauderdale to take on the Strikers on Saturday while FC Edmonton doesn't play again until May 23 when NSC Minnesota Stars come to Foote Field.
