FC Edmonton News Release
EDMONTON, AB (October 30, 2014) - FC Edmonton will look to pick up in the 2015 North American Soccer League (NASL) where they left off in 2014 and it all starts with head coach Colin Miller and his technical staff. Today, Miller, assistant coach Jeff Paulus and Darren Woloshen have signed a three year contract extension with the Eddies. As per club policy, terms of the contracts are not disclosed.
"I am absolutely thrilled to bits that we've all come to agreement with our owners and general manager," said Miller. "I think it sends a powerful statement that we are here for the long-run and we will continue to evolve and add to the culture of our club. We are grateful for the support from our owners Tom and Dave Fath and the future looks very bright for FC Edmonton and we're proud to be here."
Miller took over the reigns of FC Edmonton in November of 2012 and immediately made his mark on the club. After a season of settling into the NASL and Edmonton, Miller and his staff proved that the Eddies were a force to be reckoned with in the 2014 NASL Fall Season where they came from bottom of the standings in Week Three to competing for a post-season spot by Week 15.
Along with Miller, Paulus and Woloshen will also be extending their time with the Eddies. Paulus, in addition to being the first team assistant coach, is the technical director of the FCE Academy program which has grown this season to start a U-16 program. Woloshen works as goalkeeper coach for every "Ëkeeper in the Eddies program from first team to the Academy squads and the Region Performance Centre North program.
Hailing a 7W-5D-5L record in the NASL Fall Standings, they turned their season around from a ninth place finish in the NASL Spring Standings with a 2W-2D-5L record.
"Overall, it's been a terrific season for us," said Miller. "The Spring Season was disappointing for us in terms of results, but we set the standards for what we expected in the Fall Season. I am very proud of the players and the staff for all of their hard work to bring the standards of the club up to where they are."
FC Edmonton's season wraps up on Sunday, November 2 after the side takes on the Atlanta Silverbacks at Clarke Stadium (2:00 p.m. MT KO).
