Published on October 30, 2014 under North American Soccer League (NASL) News Release
NEW YORK (October 30, 2014) - The Soccer Bowl trophy - America's third oldest professional soccer prize - will be up for grabs when the North American Soccer League (NASL) kicks off The Championship, its four-team postseason tournament, on November 8.
Four teams will put their 2014 title hopes on the line in The Championship Semifinals, which are set for Saturday, November 8. Minnesota United FC and the San Antonio Scorpions are the two semifinal hosts, and each match will be shown nationally on ESPN3 and NASLLive.com. The two semifinal matches will also air locally on KSTC45-TV in Minnesota and KSAT12.2 MeTV in San Antonio respectively. The Championship Final will air nationally on ESPN3, ONE World Sports, and NASLLive.com, and potentially on local television depending on the host market.
Going into the final week of the NASL Fall Season, three teams have locked up their places in The Championship: Minnesota United FC (#1 seed), San Antonio Scorpions (#2 seed), and New York Cosmos (#3 or #4 seed). One spot remains available entering the weekend, and depending upon the results, it could end up being occupied by the Fort Lauderdale Strikers or Carolina RailHawks.
