FC Edmonton Make Changes Following 2013 Season

Edmonton, AB (November 5, 2013) - Following its final game of the 2013 NASL season on Saturday, FC Edmonton made several decisions on player contracts for the 2014 season.

Starting with the keepers; Lance Parker and the club continue to negotiate a contract while John Smits' option for the 2014 season was exercised. Norbert Janas' contract is up and the player is now a free agent.

On defence, the club signed a new 2-year deal with captain Albert Watson. Eddie Edward, Mallan Roberts and Michael Nonni all had their options exercised and will return to the club. Lance Laing will start the second year of his two-year deal. The club has not re-signed Chris de Guise and he is now a free agent. Negotiations between the club, Antonio Rago and David Proctor are ongoing.

In the midfield, Neil Hlavaty is back for his second season. Massimo Mirabelli, Gagan Dosanjh, Edem Mortotsi and Hanson Boakai all had their options exercised while Shaun Saiko and Chris Nurse are free agents. Wes Knight's contract expires on Nov. 15 and the club has 30 days after that to exercise his option. Robert Garrett's loan deal has ended and he will return to Linfield FC in Northern Ireland.

Up front the Eddies have exercised the option on Sadi Jalali's contract and have signed Daryl Fordyce to a new two-year deal. Michael Cox and Anthony Adur are both free agents and Corey Hertzog has completed his loan deal and will return to Vancouver.

The club will announce several more signings prior to the beginning of the 2014 season.
