Geison Moura opened scoring in the match with his second goal of the season, while goalkeeper Bruno earned the clean sheet in goal for the Strikers. In his first start of the year, Winnipeg native Tyson Farago was solid between the woodwork for the visiting Eddies.

After a positive start to the match for the visitors, it was Strikers' Geison who put the home side on the board first, heading in a goal off Farago and the post on eleven minutes for the early 1-0 lead. Moura nearly doubled the lead 20 minutes later, working around his defender before chipping the ball past the far left post.

New York native Jake Keegan sent the Eddies first attempt on goal on 34 minutes, putting a strike towards goal off a set piece from inside 18 yards that went left of goal.

Wearing the captain's armband in defender Albert Watson's absence, Daryl Fordyce attempted a low shot on 'keeper Bruno following Keegan's opportunity, forcing the Brazilian keeper to dive to his right to wrap up the hard strike.

Fort Lauderdale would take their 1-0 lead into the break.

Looking for some fresh legs in the second half, Eddies head coach Colin Miller brought in striker Tomi Ameobi on 55 minutes before also bringing in midfielder Raudales ten minutes later. Following the substitutions, the Eddies pushed into the attacking third on 68 minutes with one of their top chances of the half, forcing a corner that was nearly converted off the back post by defender Pape Diakite on the volley.

Farago made a pair of saves as the match reached the 80-minute-mark. keeping his side within a goal of their opponents.

The Eddies would be unable to find an equalizer through the final ten minutes of play despite a pair of late pushes into the attacking third, as the Strikers would hold on for the 1-0 win to keep their postseason hopes alive.

"I don't think we deserved to lose, I didn't think that Fort Lauderdale was that much better than us on the night tonight," Miller stated following the match. "We didn't create enough chances, our final ball wasn't there and we didn't defend the cross well on the goal. The players put in a good effort, but overall we fell short on the night."

FC Edmonton returns to action, Saturday, October 15 against Minnesota United FC at NSC Stadium. Kick-off in the match is set for 6:00 p.m. MT. Fans can take in the action at the Tavern on Whyte, October 15 at 6:00 P.M MT.
