FC Edmonton News Release

Edmonton, AB - FC Edmonton will play 10 home matches at Clarke Stadium during the 2021 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season, and host one Canadian Championship match in 2021, the club announced today. The Eddies' first CPL home match of the season is Saturday, July 31 versus Valour FC at 7 pm MT, and it will be the first outdoor professional sports game played in Edmonton since the start of the COVID-19 global pandemic. The final home match is on Saturday, November 6 vs Valour FC. FC Edmonton's full home and road game schedule is attached. Highlights of the home game schedule include:

* Four (4) versus Al Classico derby rival Cavalry FC * Five (5) Saturday night matches * Three (3) matches with matinee start times * One (1) Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night match each * Two (2) Sunday home matches hosting Pacific FC

"We're all very happy to see this day finally come," said Eric Newendorp, FC Edmonton's President and General Manager. "Lots of people put in a great deal of hard work to make it happen, and we give them all our sincere thanks. Now our great fans will be able to come see us play at Clarke Stadium again for the first time since October 2019. We're sure the atmosphere will be buzzing in the stadium that night, and it will be an exciting day for the entire city."

The 2021 CPL season will see all eight clubs playing a full 112-match schedule with 28 matches per club in a single-table format competing for four postseason playoff spots. The season began on Saturday June 26 in Winnipeg, Manitoba with each club to eventually play a total of eight matches there (32 games total) before returning to their respective home markets to continue the season and play their remaining 20 games split evenly between being at home and on the road.

After returning from Winnipeg, clubs will play an unbalanced schedule - 16 games against teams in their geographical region and four more against teams they already played against in Winnipeg.

"We just can't wait to get back home and play in front of our fans and supporters," said FC Edmonton Head Coach Alan Koch. "It's been way too long for everybody. Players and coaches know that nothing can replicate the feeling of taking the pitch when there's fans in the stands and competing with the support and energy of them behind you. We play for them, so we look forward to a full house that first home game back at Clarke (Stadium)." The date when fans will be able to start purchasing individual game tickets will be announced soon, as well as more information and details surrounding each FC Edmonton home match, such as theme nights and special promotions.

FC Edmonton is hosting Soccer Sunday - a double-header watch party event at Clarke Stadium on July 18 for fans to watch the Canadian Men's National Team take on the United States Men's National Team in a CONCACAF Gold Cup showdown at 3pm MT, then watch FC Edmonton compete against Atletico Ottawa in a CPL clash at 5:30pm MT.

Tickets and party cabanas for Soccer Sunday as well as FC Edmonton Season Seat Memberships are on sale now by visiting fcedmonton.canpl.ca, or by calling 780-700-2600.
