FC Dallas Goalkeeper Kevin Hartman Voted MLS Player of the Month for August
Published on September 1, 2010 under Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release
NEW YORK - The 12-game unbeaten streak put together by FC Dallas has not gone unnoticed by media members.
The North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) on Wednesday voted FCD goalkeeper Kevin Hartman the MLS Player of the Month for August after the Hoops recorded three wins and a scoreless tie in Columbus to keep their run alive. They now sit just six points from the top of the league standings with a game in hand.
Hartman, who captured his first Player of the Month award of a 14-year MLS career, was beaten only twice over the four league matches his team played in August. The two goals came off a deflected shot and an own goal as the 36-year-old made a total of 12 saves on the month to continue to add to his all-time league record.
The four-time All-Star, who also holds the all-time marks for shutouts and wins, leads MLS this season with a league-low 0.69 goals-against-average.
His two shutouts in August included one in Columbus last Saturday, where he also received more than a little help from his fellow defenders to keep the clean sheet. The scoreless draw set an all-time record for consecutive undefeated road matches with 10.
