FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI - FC Cincinnati are back on the road this weekend for their first-ever MLS match against in-state rival Columbus Crew SC. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised locally on WSTR Star64, streamed regionally on FloFC, out of market on ESPN+ and carried on the radio on WDJO, while an audio stream will be available on the TuneIn app and fccincinnati.com.
FC Cincinnati (5-17-2, 17 pts.) enter the week after falling 2-1 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday evening. Allan Cruz recorded his team-leading fourth goal of the season for the Orange and Blue, three of which have come within the first 10 minutes of a match.
Columbus Crew SC (7-14-4, 25 pts.) open MLS Week 23 after playing the San Jose Earthquakes to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night. Gyasi Zardes tallied his eighth goal of the season to secure a point for Crew SC. The Black & Gold are unbeaten in their last four matches, posting a 2-0-2 record since July 17.
While Saturday's contest will mark the first MLS match between the two sides, the two teams have played once before. As a USL Championship club, FC Cincinnati drew their first MLS opponent in Columbus Crew SC for a fourth-round match in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Orange and Blue prevailed, 1-0, at Nippert Stadium in front of a crowd of 30,160.
Also this week, FC Cincinnati are set to formally introduce Head Coach Ron Jans in an introductory press conference at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5 at the Mercy Health Training Center. Jans will oversee his first FC Cincinnati training session on Tuesday, Aug. 6, and will coach his first FCC game on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Columbus.

Van Dinteren Joins FCC Coaching Staff
FC Cincinnati announced Ivar van Dinteren as an assistant coach Sunday, Aug. 4 ... Already familiar with the southwest Ohio area, Van Dinteren has previously both played (2010-11) for and managed (2011-12) the Dayton Dutch Lions of the then-USL Pro League ... Van Dinteren left Dayton to take on coaching roles with the PEC Zwolle Academy back in his native Netherlands
FC Cincinnati Adds Defender Gutman on Loan
FCC added Homegrown defender Andrew Gutman on loan from Scottish Premiership side Celtic FC through the end of the 2020 MLS season on Aug. 3 ... Gutman, 22, began his professional career earlier this year when he signed for perennial Scottish Premiership power Celtic Football Club on January 31 ... The Chicago Fire Academy product spent the first half of 2019 on loan with the USL Championship's Charlotte Independence before returning to Celtic for the Scottish side's preseason preparations ... The Hinsdale, Illinois, native scored three goals and added one assist in 14 appearances with the Independence before returning to Scotland
Cruz Notches Fourth Goal
Allan Cruz scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Aug. 2 ... the goal was Cruz's third scored within the first seven minutes of a match ... the Costa Rican tallied in the seventh minute against Montreal (May 11) and in the first minute against Chicago (July 13)
Mattocks Ties Career High in Assists
Darren Mattocks registered his third assist of the 2019 campaign against Vancouver on Allan Cruz's sixth-minute strike ... Mattocks is now tied with Emmanuel Ledesma and Kekuta Manneh for the team's lead in assists ... Mattocks' three assists ties his single-season best, which he twice recorded with Vancouver in 2014 and 2016
Bertone to Serve One-Match Suspension
Leonardo Bertone picked up his eighth yellow card of the season against Vancouver ... the midfielder is unavailable for selection in FC Cincinnati's match at Columbus on Aug. 10 because of yellow-card accumulation ... Saturday's match will be Bertone's second match missed because of yellow-card accumulation ... with an additional yellow card, FCC defender Kendall Waston will receive a one-match ban
