FC Cincinnati 2 News Release
QUEENS, N.Y. - FC Cincinnati 2 lost to New York City FC II, 5-1, Saturday night at Belson Stadium on the campus of St. John's University.
The Orange and Blue fall to 3-10-0 (9 points) in MLS NEXT Pro competition. NYCFC II move into second place in the Eastern Conference at 25 points (7-4-3).
The hosts scored four times in the game's opening 20 minutes to quickly put FCC 2 in a road deficit.
Andrew Akindele scored his third goal of the season, matched with Avionne Flanagan and Nick Markanich for the most on the team, in the 56th minute. Flanagan played a cross towards Akindele which the NYCFC II defense could not properly handle which allowed a tap-in finish for Akindele.
