NEW ORLEANS (November 18, 2013) - The New Orleans VooDoo have been assigned defensive lineman Marlon Favorite, announced the VooDoo front office Monday morning.

Favorite enters his third season with the New Orleans VooDoo. During the 2013 season, Favorite recorded 26.5 tackles, the most tackles in the league by a nose guard. The second year captain accumulated six sacks in 18 games played.

The New Orleans native steadied the defensive line as a rookie in 2012, progressively getting better with each game under his belt. The New Orleans native started all 18 regular season games, finishing with 17.5 total tackles, 4.5 for a loss, and 3.0 sacks, and a fumble recovery. He also recorded a game-changing safety against the Philadelphia Soul in the playoffs that cut the lead, 28-23, late in the second quarter. The VooDoo scored on the ensuing offensive possession to take a 30-28 lead with 11 seconds left in the first half.

Before entering the AFL, Favorite was a member of multiple NFL teams including the New Orleans Saints during their Super Bowl XLIV win.

During his collegiate career, Favorite was a three-year contributor on the defensive line for the LSU Tigers. Playing in 40 games with 17 starts, Favorite ended his college career with 78 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and four sacks.
