Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
In a choppy game, the Fargo Force were able to get a few late goals to bounce past Dubuque 5-3 on Friday night. Fargo held Dubuque's offense in check for the majority of the evening, in large part to 40 saves from Cole Brady. Fargo swept the season series with Dubuque 2-0 after their win Friday night.
-Dubuque took a season high eight penalties in the game and Fargo capitalized on two of them which ended up being the difference in the game. Dubuque was 0-5 on the PP as the league's second-best unit couldn't get things going.
-Ondrej Pavel scored twice, including the game winner and empty-net insurance goal. The Force captain also had a big shorthanded goal in Fargo's first win this season over Dubuque.
-Not to be outdone, Ben Schultheis scored twice for the Fighting Saints and now has three goals in the last two games. Schulthies scored twice to tie up the score as the Fighting Saints pressed hard to rally past Fargo.
-The Force went up for good on their eighth power play of the night as Pavel put one over the shoulder of Erik Portillo in tight.
-Cole Brady took his second win of the season against Dubuque and this one was even more impressive than the first. Brady made 69 saves in two games while allowing just four goals against Dubuque this season.
-The Force bounced back nicely after a 7-1 loss to Sioux Falls. Fargo has now won four straight at home and they have won six of their last seven as well. The victory was their Force's 10th of the season.
-Mark Cheremeta continued his hot play for Dubuque, assisting on both of Schultheis' goals. Both of the assists were primary assists as Cheremeta made two fantastic plays to work free and push the puck back to the point.
-Jimmy Glynn also remained hot with his second goal in as many games. Glynn scored with 51 seconds left to give Dubuque life. The goal made it 4-3 but the Saints weren't able to gain any more chances after it.
Next up for the Saints is a trip to Sioux Falls. Dubuque will battle the Stampede on Saturday night for their final game of the road trip at 7:05. It will be the first matchup against the Stampede this season.
