Fans Have Spoken, and the Oklahoma Defenders Listened

February 5, 2013 - Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL)
Oklahoma Defenders News Release

Tulsa, OK It has been six months since the Oklahoma Defenders last suited-up and took the field. But for the front office, the work never stopped. The Defenders staff have capitalized on the success of last season and implemented additional directives to make the upcoming 2013 season an even greater success.

Defender fans will notice a few of these new directives immediately, most notably, the switch to a new league, the Championship Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) and a new arena to call home, the Tulsa Convention Center.

The Oklahoma Defenders are excited to announce another addition for the 2013 season: fans will be able to listen to every play, all season long, through the Play-by-Play broadcast of the Defenders Radio Network.

Handling the play-by-play duties for the 2013 season will be Blake Gazaway.

"The media center and the Defenders Radio Network will allow us to keep fans informed and up-to-date. The media center is so versatile. Fans will enjoy the OKD fan chat room and the live-music stream with over 50 music channels including a variety of genres," commented Lamar Baker, Oklahoma Defenders General Manager.

"Having a broadcast is key to keeping the fans tuned in," explained Defenders Head Coach Derek Rasmussen. "Add that with a guy like Blake Gazaway who knows the organization inside and out, and you have a great tool for the fans to stay connected."

Gazaway says, "I am excited for the opportunity to be The Voice of the Oklahoma Defenders. Working with the team has been a great honor for me. We all have put our blood, sweat, and tears into the planning and preparation for the broadcast, but I think the fans will truly enjoy the experience. Through our exclusive broadcast, we will have the best, most in-depth coverage in the CPIFL."

Gazaway handled the public address duties for the Oklahoma Defenders last season. He also handled the play-by-play call of the playoff game last year. The Play-by-Play broadcast of the Defenders Radio Network will be carried exclusively on the Oklahoma Defenders Media Center.

Not only does the Oklahoma Defenders Media Center feature the Defenders Radio Network live Play-by-Play coverage during the season, it also archives each game for future listening. The media center will also include exclusive player interviews, videos, and other team news. Best of all, you can access the live broadcast through any internet-accessible device, no software or downloads needed!

"With our new media center, fans will have access to broadcasts as well as game feeds, giving the fan the ultimate chance to go back and replay a great play, or listen live when we're on the road," elaborated Rasmussen.

"We have been very impressed with Blake. He did a great job as our PA announcer last year and with the play-by-play of the playoffs last season. He also has previous experience with the Kansas City Chiefs, ensuring this will be a high-quality, professional broadcast you will not want to miss!"
