Jersey Express News Release

Madison, NJ - The Jersey Express played host to the First State Fusion, and came up with a big win over the Fusion 128-96, in it's first contest, under Interim Head Coach Quaasim Austin.

"Coach Austin had held the position of Assistant Coach, before being promoted to acting Head Coach. Coach Q has been with us for two years now, and we felt that he deserved a chance to assume the lead role. Q, as he is affectionately known, has paid his dues with the organization, and his hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed; affirmed Co-owner Marsha Blount.

"I believe the players came together well as a team, they shared the ball, and I believe we play our best basketball when we do just that. Before the game, they were told to go out defend, have fun, and everything else will come. They really stepped up for me, with six players in double figures, and producing our highest assist total of the season, with 28. I appreciate the fact that both Jacqui and Marsha have faith in me, and are providing me with this opportunity to do what I love", stated Coach Q.

The Express welcomed back, 6'9" forward Dwayne Howell, returning from a leg injury, Howell has played for the Express since 2005. Howell's debut was a 32pt, 9rbd game, with several exciting, high flying thunderous dunks. Also returning for the Express is last seasons point guard, Johan Matos. Matos touched on a triple double, as he always fills the stat sheet with 13pts, 10rbds and 8 assists. Mark Jarrell's, 27pts, Lance Hazel & Dezmond Morgan both tallied 21, and newcomer Tavares Cooper chipped in 10pts for the Express.

The Jersey Express returns home on Sunday, March 2nd at 4pm, for its regular season finale against the Manchester Millrats. The Express, in conjunction with New Line Cinema's upcoming release "Semi Pro", based on the ABA starring Will Ferrell, will be giving away 35 FREE Music Downloads to ALL ticket holders who attend the game (while supplies last).
