Reading Express News Release

Reading Express GM/Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski announced today that he has signed Arena/Indoor Wide Receiver Ed Giddings.

Ed Giddings comes to The Express with an impressive football resume. Ed played his High School Football at University City High in Philadelphia, where he was All-Public/City and was a Robert Maxwell Award nominee. Ed went on to play his college career at Cheyney University of the PSAC where he was an All-PSAC wide out. The PSAC is well represented on the Express roster. At Cheyney, Ed also was a member of the Track team. After several NFL camp tryouts Giddings ended up on the 2005 AIFL Johnstown Riverhawks, where he met and played football with current Express Offensive Coordinator Chris Thompson as well as Nose Guard Brett Kolk and Defensive End Mike Schweble. Giddings then went on to play in the IFL and AF2 for the 2006-08 seasons. During the 2007 season Ed also was an Assistant Coach with William Penn High School in Philadelphia.

"At 6'3" and 220lbs, Ed brings exceptional speed, size and indoor experience to our wide receiver group" said Nowotarski. "My OC, Chris Thompson was thrilled to get the call from Ed and that he was back in this area and wanted to come and play for the Express. We really look forward to getting Ed into camp and get him familiar with our style of play.
