Snohomish County Explosion News Release
The Snohomish County Explosion (1-1) split the Portland road series with the USA-All Stars to start the IBL season off in style, dismantling the USA All-Stars 130-96. Explosion guard Anthony Slater set an Explosion record last night with 16 assists and broke his own record the following night with 18 assists, 11 points, and 7 steals in just 32 minutes of play. Shooting Guard Devon Green was the top scorer both games with 35 points and 11 rebounds in the second game. Brad Kanis had another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Brad had 6 blocks to go along with his double-double and is averaging 5 blocks per game this season.
The Explosion jumped out early in the game and had 41 points in the first quarter to get out in front and never looked back. Coach Weakley was happy to get his first IBL win saying, "We played an upstyle game of basketball as we had our full court pressure on from the start. This helped cause 21 turnovers and was the key to the game. Guys played hard and competed tonight."
The Snohomish County Explosion return to action next Saturday, April 18th as they will host the Seattle Mountaineers in their first home game of the season. Doors open at 6pm with tip-off at 7:15pm at the Monroe Sports Arena. The first 200 fans to walk through the doors will receive a pair of team posters.
