Explosion win 146-129 over Japan to improve to 4-3 for the season

Explosion now has one two punch with Ford and Greene Monroe, Washington - May 2nd 2009 - The night belong to the Explosion and the IBL leading scorer Greene had some help with the emergence of Richard Ford as the second go-to option for the Explosion.

The Explosion defeated Japan 146-129 and led by as many as 41 points and in control of the game throughout the contest. Greene had 7 rebounds to go with his 44 points but not to be overlooked was the play of Richard Ford with 40 points, and 11 rebounds dubbing him as the Explosion Double-Double man. Ford went a remarkable 16/18 from the floor and was perfect from three point range going 4 for 4.

The game had a lot of three points shots as both teams combined for a total of 119 shots from beyond the arch still being reviewed as a possible IBL record for three points shot attempts. The fireworks happened in the first five minutes as the Explosion took the lead and never looked back.

"Tonight was a game that showed we have a great coaching staff and some real NBA and European talent," said Nathan Mumm, owner of the Explosion organization. "Even with a double team Greene was not going to be denied as he kept going to the basket time after time. The best part was with Slater running the show from the point he was setup for open looks all night."

"We have some real special guys that are far and away NBA starting talent and these guys need to make that next step up to the highest level of basketball for them to be truly challenged." Coach Weakley said after the game.

The Explosion move to a 4-3 record after their win against Japan, with a three week road trip coming on up before returning to the Monroe Sports Arena May 30th with a contest against the Vancouver BC Titans.
