Snohomish County Explosion News Release
Monroe, WA - With the visiting Las Vegas Stars playing their eighth game in nine days, the Snohomish County Explosion took advantage of the travel weary team en route to a 123-101 victory. The Explosion broke out with a 31-21 first quarter advantage fueled by 10 points from Chris Keller. Seven-foot center, Trevor Lawrence, dropped in 10 of the Stars 21 first quarter points. Las Vegas played an inspired second quarter, beginning the period on a 17-3 run on the way to a 59-56 halftime advantage. Four Stars were in double figures by the break led by 15 points from Mike Tabb. Chris Weakley led the Snohomish in the period connecting on 3 of 6 from three-point range for nine of his 13 points.
The Explosion turned up the heat in the third period holding the Stars to just 18 points. Donald Watts dropped in 15 points and added three assists in the quarter. The Stars shot just 27 percent on 7 for 26 shooting including 0 for 7 from long range. The Explosion was on fire, shooting 54 percent in the quarter and held a 90-77 lead. The fourth stanza finished where the third left off. The entire Explosion roster got on the scoreboard tonight as all 12 players recorded points. Snohomish shot 50 percent for the game while holding the Stars to 40 percent and 0 for 14 from the three-point line in the second half.
The Explosion's next home game is Saturday, June 14th, versus the Central Oregon Hotshots at the Monroe Sports Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 PM.
