Snohomish County Explosion News Release

Everett - General Manager Brad Sturlaugson announced Tuesday that the Explosion Basketball Team has resigned Head Coach Randy Redwine for the 2008 season.

"It was an incredibly successful inaugural season, both on and off the court, and Randy was a big part of that. Randy has the ability to attract quality players from all over the world, and brings a vast knowledge of the game with him to the court every day. The Explosion is proud to have him back for another campaign," said Sturlaugson.

When reached for comment, Redwine stated, "I am very excited to continue my mission with the Explosion. After having time to reflect on the last season, I feel that the Explosion had a very successful team, one that showed we belong with the top teams in the league. The players deserve a great deal of respect for their dedication and commitment to the organization. By the fourth game I knew we had something special. After traveling to Colorado and splitting [two games] with a quality team on the road, it showed me that we were ready to challenge the elite teams in the IBL. I predict that next year's Explosion team will be more experienced with some new players. There will be an added rivalry with the new Bellingham [Slam, formerly of the ABA], to challenge for the Western superiority".

Coach Redwine led the Explosion to a 16-4 record in their inaugural season, winning the International Basketball League Western Division Championship. For more information on the team, visit ExplosionBasketball.net or call 425.339.BALL. We've Got the BOOM! Do you?
