Snohomish County Explosion News Release
In the largest upset of the IBL 2009 season the Explosion #8 seed in the tournament won over #1 seeded Edmonton Energy 143-131 at the Monroe Sports Arena. Devon Greene, the IBL's all time scorer in a season, came back from a low scoring night the night before to put in 52 points, to Richards Ford's 30 points and the man of muscle off the bench Jason Hicks contributed 27 points.
The Explosion have never been to the Finals in their three years in the IBL. This first comes after much criticism from the front office to go young in the beginning of the season. Most of the Explosion players went down south to play for the Seattle team leaving the Explosion young unknowns to learn how to play as a team.
"Teamwork First" was the Motto for the season and this just so happened to work as the Explosion look to take on the Oregon Waves Friday July 3rd at the Monroe Sports Arena, tipoff is at 5:00pm. Don't miss the action as tickets can still be purchased online at www.explosionbasketball.net or via the phone at 425-339-BALL.
