Snohomish County Explosion News Release

Monroe, Washington - June 20th 2009 -If anything else, the Snohomish County Explosion played harder than they did against Tacoma. But in the end, the result was the same. A single basket loss to the Vancouver Volcanoes to the tune of 124-120.

As Explosion fans, we are always impressed when they have all their starters in double figures. I imagine that Explosion fans are also impressed with the fact that THREE of their starters scored 23 points or more! That's pretty amazing. Chris Weakley, Devon Greene and Ike Ohanson combined to score an amazing 104 points for the Explosion.

On The Explosion side they had their chances to win the game. They even had the lead going into the 3rd quarter. But for some reason the refs really were calling the game closely. Much more closely than the Explosion are used to. There were a total of 62 fouls called in the game. And the problem was the refs weren't being consistent. With about 3 minutes left in the game, Jason Hicks literally got mauled in the paint and no foul was called. On the other end, Greene barely touched the Volcanoes player and was called for his 3rd foul.

What lost the game for the Explosion again was the simple stuff, full court defense and free throw shooting despite all of the bad things that happened in this game, I think there were some good things that came from it as well. Unfortunately, despite the good things that came out of this game, it still counts as a loss.

The Explosion are currently 7-10 on the season and they take on a must win game against the Hotshots of Oregon. The young talented team have four games left in the season and have never been under .500 in a season and first year coach Weakley hopes to continue this streak. Don't miss the action as tickets can still be purchased online at www.explosionbasketball.net or via the phone at 425-339-BALL.
