Snohomish County Explosion News Release

Monroe, WA-The Snohomish County Explosion have a new name and a new home for their second season in the International Basketball League, but many things will be the same when the Explosion take the floor in 2008. Returning to the lineup is the high-scoring trio of Rashaad Powell, Jamaal Miller and Justin Murray.

Powell, the 2006 IBL All-Star Game MVP, led the Explosion and finished sixth in the IBL in scoring in 2007 with an average of 28.5 points per game. A dynamic presence in every facet of the game, Powell also finished second on the team in rebounds (7.5 per game) and assists (4.0 per game).

Miller (19.6 points per game) is a versatile scorer-equally adept as a spot up shooter or getting to the rim off the dribble. At 6'1", Miller is a solid rebounder (4.0 rebounds per game) for his size.

The 6'6" Murray also plays bigger than his size. The former Washington State Cougar led the Explosion in rebounding (7.7 rebounds per game) while scoring 14.8 points per contest. Murray was the leading scorer in the 2007 IBL All-Star Game with a 41 point outburst.

Also returning to the Explosion in 2008 is head coach Randy Redwine. Redwine guided the IBL's West Division champs to a 17-5 record a season ago, and expects to build on that success this coming season. "It's great to have key guys like Rashaad, Justin and Jamaal back," said Redwine. "The fact that they are familiar with our system, and have already had a season to play together is a boost for us."

The Explosion frontline will be bolstered by the return of big men Mike Jones (6'10") and David White (6'11"). Jones was a steady contributor for the Explosion last season (2.9 points per game) while White saw limited action.

The Explosion kick off their 2008 season at the Monroe Sports Arena on March 8 against the Bellingham Slam. For more information, visit www.explosionbasketball.net or visit www.iblhoopsonline.com.
