Explosion Blow Up All-Stars 169-85

Snohomish County Explosion News Release


Monroe, WA- The Snohomish County Explosion started the 2008 IBL season off in style, dismantling the USA All-Stars 169-85. Explosion guard, Donald Watts, led the team with 26 points and contributed 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Point guard Jamaal Miller picked up where he left off last season with 19 points, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Guard Chris Weakley put up 19 points before leaving the game in the third quarter with a dislocated finger.

Some off-season acquisitions by the Explosion stepped up big. Newly acquired guard, Kyle Keyes, made quite the "BOOM" in his Explosion debut. Keyes had 22 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Guard, Chris Keller, scored 18 points and was 10 of 16 from the field. The new big man, Jackie Jones, had 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 block in the home opener.

All-Stars forward, Terrance King, led the way for the USA squad. King had 21 points and 8 rebounds. USA center, Tywan Gonzalez had the game's only double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

The Snohomish County Explosion return to action next Saturday, March 8. They will host the Bellingham Slam (formerly of the ABA) at the Monroe Sports Arena. The first 500 fans to walk through doors will receive a pair of BOOM Fan Stix. Doors open at 6pm, with tip-off at 7:15pm.
