November 5, 2008 - Premier Basketball League (PBL)
Vermont Frost Heaves News Release

South Burlington, VT - The Vermont Frost Heaves are pleased to announce the signing of Joe Williams, a 6'7" forward who began his basketball career playing for Champlain College from 1997 through 1999 and finished his college career at Austin Peay University in 2001.

Head Coach Will Voigt on Joe coming back to Burlington stated, "We are excited to bring Joe back to the Burlington area. He is a tremendous rebounder, and post defender that fits perfectly with our team culture. He comes with a great reputation for being a hard worker and team leader, and we expect more of the same here."

The scouting reports on Joe are as follows:

"All-around forward do it all type of player that will allow some interesting versatility to the team he plays for...skilled both inside and outside...shows good capacity to score back to the basket and face to the basket as well. Frequently uses a reliable turn-around shot from the low post but also displays other solutions at the interior. Handles the ball well - above average - for a player at his position, thus he can drive past defenders and finish with a lay up or dunk. Reliable shooter from mid-range and has the ability to hit the three pointer when left open. Uses space well to get open to shoot the ball and sees the opportunity on the floor to score. Despite overall good offensive skills, Williams is also a reliable rebounder both defensively and offensively...has long arms and jumps well. Good mobility in defense and at times can be intimidating with his shot blocking ability. Runs the floor very well and can occasionally lead a break full court with solid dribbling and passing skills...Very coachable and pro attitude both on and off the court."

Williams is a native of Clementon, NJ and when asked how it felt to be returning to Vermont, Williams stated: "its very exciting to be returning to the place where my basketball career begin. I am looking forward to playing in Vermont again and trying to win another championship for the Frost Heaves."

Williams just completed playing in Paraguay in 2008 has played extensively in Europe and Latin America. The Frost Heaves open training camp December 1, 2008.
