The AGs are coming off a 43-7 win over league-newcomer Dallas Jackals, but AG Rugby Head Coach Sam Harris stated after the win that "we didn't play anywhere near a perfect match," so the team will be looking to clean up some execution errors.
AG Players To Watch Out For
Julian Dominguez
Dominguez was unstoppable against Dallas last weekend and looks to be in All-MLR form yet again. His destructive runs against Dallas went viral on the Rugby Network and earned him All-MLR Team of the Week selection this week.
Kyle Breytenbach
Breytenbach returned for the 2022 in impeccable physical condition and began the season in equally impressive fashion. Breytenbach earned the starting job on the flank and imposed his will on the Dallas Jackals for 80 minutes. He also looked to play the part of enforcer for the AGs in week one; standing up for his teammates in battle time and time again this past weekend. The local boy, formerly of the Austin Huns, stretched his legs to score a 50-meter try to end the match last weekend.
Conner Mooneyham
Mooneyham was a star player as a rookie last season and became a fan-favorite as a main character in the AG's all-access off-season documentary, "Inside the Scrum." Mooneyham, was a healthy scratch in week one with Dominguez and Zinzan Elan-Puttuck earning the starting nod on the wing in week one. But watch out for Mooneyham to leave his stamp on the match in week 2.
OLD GLORY PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Dom Bailey
Bailey makes his return to Austin to face off against his former team. It was tough to see Bailey go after three seasons in Austin as one of the franchise's leading tacklers. Bailey will look to please the Austin home crowd one final time.
Danny Tusitala
Tusitala is DC's captain and energizer bunny scrumhalf; seemingly finding his way into the highlight reel week after week. Tusitala keeps DC's tempo high and when he spots a gap for himself he never hesitates to slip through.
Jamason Fa'ana-Schulz
Fa'ana-Schulz is arguably DC's best player. DC's No. 8 is a force from the back of the scrum and one of the league's best ball carriers. He earned selection to the Eagles this past tour and will certainly be a player to watch out for, not only this match, but all season long.
We'll see you out at Bold Stadium!
AG Rugby is 1-0 and getting prepared to take on the team that beat them in the last match of the 2021 season, Old Glory DC.
