Everett Explosion Lose Heartbreaker 119-111 to Santa Barbara

Portland, OR- The Explosion end the 2007 season with a great effort but just coming up a bit short in the closing seconds. With less then a minute left in the Semi-Final Western Conference game the Everett Explosion was tied 111-111 in the fourth quarter with a chance to win.

Santa Barbara Breakers a very worthy opponent was also playing the game of the year against Everett with Lamond Murray leading them with 24 points and 6 rebounds. The turning point happened with 1:12 seconds left in the fourth quarter came as a missed rebound sailed out of bounds and no official could make a definitive call. So a conference with the officials rewarded the ball to Santa Barbara and this led to a three point shot and Everett could never recover. Everett in its first year as an organization ended the season with an overall record of 17 wins and just 5 losses.

"We played a great game and two very good teams played on the court tonight." Coach Redwine stated "I want to take some time off and reflect on the season." health permitting he may return to the Explosion next season as the coach of this team. We have achieved marvelous things and this going to just get better."

"This has been a great season no one in Snohomish County a year ago would have ever expected what has happened this year except our coaching staff." Nathan Mumm CEO of Courtyard Media (ownership group of Explosion Basketball LLC) commented on about the complete season. "Our team was built to compete year in and year out as next year we will be looking to win even more. I would expect some signing of players for the next season to be coming soon from the General Manager but I am sure we will have some recognizable names back again next season."

Everett was led by Rashaad Powell's 24 points, 6 rebounds; Donald Watts had 23 points and 4 assists. Jamaal Miller had 18 points and 8 assists, while Justin Murray put up 16 points and 13 rebounds.
