Evansville BlueCats News Release
This Saturday night the Evansville Bluecats (3-2) will take on the Omaha Beef (2-2) at Roberts Stadium. The Bluecats are entering this game after defeating the Black Hills Red Dogs by a score of 60-57 at home last weekend. Evansville currently sits in a tie for first place in the UIF South Division. Omaha is in third place in the UIF North Division.
The Bluecats will play in front of the home crowd at Roberts Stadium for the second week in a row. Evansville is 3-0 at Roberts Stadium this season.
The game against the Beef is a rematch of the game two weeks ago in Omaha. Evansville came up short in that contest 29-27. The Bluecats missed three field goals, had another field goal blocked, and turned the ball over 3 times and still only lost by two points. In that game, Evansville seemed in control and was driving deep in Beef territory with less than a minute to go when a fumbled snap was recovered by Omaha. The Omaha Beef were then able to run out the clock and hold on for the win on their home field.
Bluecats Head Coach Ollie Guidry said, "Looking at Omaha, it was a close, tight game last time we played each other. It went down to the very last minute and we expect another close game against them. We expect to score more points this time, last time against them we only scored 27 points, which is the lowest we've scored all year. We've made adjustments to help us offensively versus their front four, which is one of the best in the league. We're looking forward to the challenge of playing a good team at home and want to go out there and play hard and play well."
Last weekend the Beef lost to Sioux City 47-30 at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. This weekend will be Omaha's first road game of the season.
Kickoff for this Saturday night's game is set for 7:05pm. The gates at Roberts Stadium will open at 6pm. As always, fans are invited to arrive early and tailgate in the stadium parking lot with your fellow Bluecats fans. The first 3000 fans in the stadium will receive a free Evansville Bluecats Spirit Sign and the first 1000 lucky fans will receive the official 2005 Bluecats Thunder Stix from Hornbrook Estates Apartments.
Get close to the action this Saturday, April 30th, with all your fellow Bluecats fans and cheer on the Evansville Bluecats as they take on the Omaha Beef.
