Esks Extend WR Nate Coehoorn

Edmonton - The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club announces the signing of non-import wide receiver Nate Coehoorn to a contract extension, keeping him in green and gold through 2015.

In seven games (seven starts) this season, Coehoorn has 27 catches for 362 yards. He recorded a career-high seven catches in the season opener against Saskatchewan and, in Week 4 against BC, he recorded his first career 100-yard receiving game with a six-catch, 103-yard performance.

Coehoorn was originally selected in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft by Edmonton. In three seasons, the Medicine Hat native recorded 74 catches for 967 yards and one touchdown. In 2012, Coehoorn was the third-leading receiver on the team with 45 catches for 576 yards.

The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club also announces the signing of import defensive back Deante Purvis (pronounced dee-ON-tay PURR-vis) to the practice roster.

During four seasons (2008-11) as a UNLV Rebel cornerback and running back, Purvis recorded 30 tackles, two forced fumbles, four pass knockdowns and registered 57 carries for 223 yards. He also saw action as a kick returner, finishing his collegiate career ranked first in school and conference history with 112 kick returns for 2,626 yards.
