Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Niles, OH - All season the road has been unfriendly to the Muckdogs. That continued to be the case on Thursday night as Mahoning Valley defeated the Muckdogs, 8-2.
The Scrappers got to Jean Machi (2-4) early, as 2 errors in the first 3 innings led to 3 unearned runs. It would prove to be too much to overcome as the defense would let the 'Dogs down again later.
RBI groundouts in the 3rd (Kiel Fisher) and 7th (Jeury Diaz) would make it a one run game. However, when Matt Padilla took the hill in the 7th, things went downhill. 5 hits and another error would lead to 5 Scrappers runs, 4 of which were unearned. That would seal the deal as Mahoning Valley's bullpen did not allow a hit in the last two innings.
Kiel Fisher and Tim Moss each had two hits in the loss, while Ryan Goleski drove in 3 runs and Clint Chauncey had 3 hits for the victors.
The series finishes Friday night in Niles, with the first pitch coming at 7:05 PM.
