The Kelowna Rockets have loaned forward Ethan Ernst to the Grenfell Sr. Spitfires of the Qu'Appelle Valley Hockey League through December 20, 2020.

Ernst, 18, appeared in 58 games for the Rockets during the 2019-20 season, collecting 19 points (6G, 13A) and 16 penalty minutes.

The Weyburn, SK product was drafted by Kelowna during the third round (No. 61) at the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Spitfires roster includes a handful of former WHL players, including former Rocket Carson Sass.

Spokane Chiefs forward Cordel Larson has also been granted a temporary transfer to play alongside Ernst.

WHL roster players who have been granted temporary transfers will be permitted to play through mid-December with WHL Training Camps beginning following the Christmas break.

The 2020-21 WHL Regular Season is scheduled to start Friday, January 8, 2021. The WHL continues to work with each of the Governments and Health Authorities in the Provinces and States in Western Canada and the U.S. Pacific Northwest, respectively, on obtaining the necessary approvals to commence play.
