Erie Freeze, NWA Announce Unique Partnership

April 21, 2005 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)
Erie Freeze News Release

In the area surrounding the Tuillio Arena Saturday evening, April 23, the Erie Freeze's Atlantic Indoor Football League home opener against the Richmond Bandits will only be the tip of the iceberg.

Along with an early season matchup billed as a "battle of the unbeatens", the Erie Freeze organization has put together a parking lot extravaganza unrivaled in indoor football annals. Already on the docket for Saturday, along with the game, are radio remotes from Rocket 101 and Froggy 94 Radio, plus the AIFL Today show.

In addition, early arriving fans will be treated to a pre-game concert by the area's "Ultimate Showband", the Mans Room Band. In keeping with the promise of making each game and event, the Freeze will have a special area set aside for families and bounce rides for children.

Head Coach and General Manager Mike Esposito unveiled a special treat for Erie fans attending all home games in a surprise announcement from the Freeze offices early this morning: Perhaps the only thing as impressive Saturday night as the hits inside the Arena will be the hits OUTSIDE the Arena?

Coach Esposito spoke in reference to an agreement made with National Wrestling Alliance East and the NWA Rocky Mountain organizations to make Erie, Pennsylvania, the simultaneous center of the indoor football world and the pro wrestling world for every Freeze home game in the 2005 season.

The Freeze and the NWA will host the "Freeze for All" 24-man pre-game battle royal to crown the NWA Erie Freeze Pre-Game Champion. The winner will be awarded a seat of honor in the Freeze Hot Tub with the Bud Girls for the Richmond game. There is one caveat: the weekly champion must put his belt on the line during each pre-game party for the remainder of the 2005 season.

Esposito continued, "There is no other sports organization that offers the kind of entertainment that the Freeze does. Families will be able to enjoy a free pro wrestling card before the game and great football inside the arena at prices starting at $5. You can't even go to many movies at those prices?"

After the success of Erie's Week One victory over the Johnstown Riverhawks, 48-27, tickets have been sold at a brisk pace and the entire organization is gearing up for a sell out. Tickets start at $5 with season tickets as low as $35. Special "In the Game" VIP Tickets can be purchased for as little as $25 by calling the Freeze at (814) 454-0200.

The Freeze opens its home schedule April 23 at 7 p.m. in Tuillio Arena against Richmond.
