Riverhawks and Legends Come to Trade Agreement

April 21, 2005 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) News Release


The Atlantic Indoor Football League has accepted the terms of a trade between the Johnstown Riverhawks and the Canton Legends.

After the sudden retirement of Canton Legends quarterback Rob Adamson the Legends' have traded for Quarterback Eric Rector from the Johnstown Riverhawks. Rector who played for the Riverhawks last week was 10-14 for 103 yards 0 interceptions and 3 touchdowns.

Rector a 2004 graduate of Malone College was a four year starter and still holds a NAIA record for the most total yards as a freshman. He was named first team all Mid-States Conference as Junior as well as being named an NAIA All-American in that same year, he was a second team all conference player as a sophomore.

Dan Hanson, Rectors coach at Malone College stated "Eric is a good athlete with a strong arm who is very competitive and a good leader. It is going to be good to see him playing football back in Canton again."

Those same sentiments were echoed by Legends' owner Andrew Haines, "Eric is a very good player that will fit into our system very well. Having him play in Canton once again will be a big boost to our team and community."

In return for Rector the Johnstown Riverhawks received FB/LB Jeremiah Virden. Virden who is from Akron, Ohio had a successful college career at Savannah State University. Virden is happy with the opportunity to go to Johnstown and play for the Riverhawks.
