
Erie BayHawks' Erik Daniels Named NBA D-League Performer of the Week

NEW YORK, Dec. 8, 2008 - Erik Daniels of the Erie BayHawks was today named the NBA D-League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Dec. 1. Daniels becomes the first BayHawks player to earn Performer of the Week honors.
Daniels led Erie to a 3-1 record last week, averaging 23.0 points and 11.0 rebounds on .452 (38-of-84) shooting from the field. He recorded three double-doubles in four games, and posted a season-high 27 points in a win over the Austin Toros last Monday. For the season, Daniels is averaging 21.0 points and 10.8 rebounds in five games.
The 6-8 Daniels was Erie's first-round pick (seventh overall) in the 2008 NBA D-League draft. An All-SEC player at Kentucky, he appeared in 21 games for the Sacramento Kings during the 2004-05 NBA season. In his first stint in the NBA D-League, Daniels earned second team All-NBA D-League honors with Fayetteville during the 2005-06 campaign.
Other top performers last week included Albuquerque's Will Conroy, who averaged 28.3 points and 6.3 assists in three games for the Thunderbirds; Joe Crawford, who averaged 26.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in two games for the Los Angeles D-Fenders; Fort Wayne's Chris Hunter who averaged 24.0 points and 12.6 rebounds in three games for the Mad Ants; Courtney Sims, last week's Performer of the Week, who averaged 25.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games for the Iowa Energy; and Austin's Marcus Williams, who averaged 25.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists in three games for the Toros.
