TUPELO, MS--The Tupelo FireAnts are pleased to announce the signing of defensive back Eric Bingham to the 2004 lineup.

A native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Bingham joined the FireAnts in 2002, where he quickly made an impact on the team. In six games played with the ‘Ants, Bingham was responsible for 29.5 total tackles. He also had one forced fumble and one safety to cap off his first season of indoor football. For his efforts on the turf in 2002, the National Indoor Football League honored Bingham as an Atlantic Conference Eastern Division All-Star at the safety/linebacker position.

In 2003, Bingham had another explosive season, picking up right where he left off. In 14 games played with the ‘Ants, Bingham led the team in total tackles with 69.5 to his credit. He also tallied one sack, hauled in two interceptions, and one forced fumble to round out another impressive year.

"Bingham is a very talented football player that will be able to make a big contribution on the defensive end of the ball," FireAnts Head Coach Bobby Hall said. "We also feel he is talented enough to play a little on the offensive side this season, as well."

Bingham attended Hinds Community College where he was a member of the 1997 state championship team. He also played collegiate football at Belhaven College.

This season will mark his third year of professional indoor football with the FireAnts.

The FireAnts have signed seven players to date, including Joe Gunn, Pig Prather, Patrick Garth, Rico McDonald, Bobby Hill, Chris Rainey, and now Eric Bingham to the 2004 lineup.
