St. John's Edge News Release
Over the ten days leading up to February 23, 2020, we will highlight some of the greatest moments of Carl English's tenure with the St. John's Edge.
Carl English was a shooter. He made his living, and his name, shooting the basketball. On March 31, 2018, English wasn't perfect...but he was close. That afternoon against the Niagara River Lions, Carl would shoot the ball at a compelling clip. An astonishing 14-20 from the field, including 7-8 from beyond the three-point line, for a tally of 38 points to go along with six rebounds.
Fans at Mile One Centre were treated to a dominant display. One where the opponents simply could not find any answers for the big-time scorer. The Edge would win this one 125-115 and #23 quite possibly wrapped up some league hardware because of this near-flawless performance.
Keep watching as the countdown continues tomorrow!
Join us on February 23rd as we celebrate and pay tribute to the career of Newfoundland's own, Carl English. In honour of Carl's retirement, the Edge organization will retire his number 23 and hoist his jersey to the rafters of the Mile One Centre. Tickets can be purchased online at www.mileonecentre.com, by phone at (709)576-7657 or by visiting the Mile One Centre Box Office.
