SPOKANE, Washington (February 18, 2016) - The Empire announced today their new mascot in preparation for their inaugural season as a member of the IFL as well as a "Name the Mascot" fan event.
The "Empire Engineer" will make his debut in 2016 with the name to be announced on Thursday, February 25th during the KAYU Morning Show. Fans will have the opportunity to provide input on the new name during a two-round process the Empire plans to kick off on Friday, February 19th.
The mascot was created and assembled by BAM! Mascots based out of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. BAM! Mascots assists teams and organizations to provide a memorable experience for everyone who comes into contact with their team's mascot representatives. They take pride in providing a mascot that children will want to hug and even that adults will want to have their picture taken with. Beginning Friday, February 19th fans can visit the Spokane Empire's Facebook page and participate in their Poll App to vote on a few team developed concepts or submit their own suggestions. The team will close the first round of submissions Sunday night at 5:00 p.m. PT. Then on Monday, fans can return to the Empire's Facebook page to vote on the list of finalists through Wednesday, February 24th. The final name will be announced Thursday morning live on the KAYU Good Day Spokane around 8:30 a.m.
The Empire will be on the road to kick off the 2016 IFL season against the Tri-Cities Fever on Saturday, February 20th at 7:00 p.m. The game will be available online via IFLLive.TV and for your listening pleasure on AM 700 ESPN with Keith Osso and Mike Peterson on the call.

NEXT EMPIRE HOME GAME
The team will return in Week 2 for their home opener at Spokane Arena on Saturday, February 27th to take on the Wichita Falls Nighthawks with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. The 2016 home opener is also "Dollar Night" with hot dogs, soda, and ice-cream available for $1 each at arena concessions. The game night is sponsored by George Gee Kia and Big 99.9 FM Coyote Country as the first 5,000 fans through doors beginning at 6:00 p.m. receive a wooden keychain train whistle courtesy of Georgie Gee Kia. After the game, the Empire invites their fans to attend the post-game party at The Black Diamond located at 9614 E Sprague in Spokane Valley.
