SPOKANE, Washington - The Empire has signed defensive lineman Harold Love III to their 2017 IFL roster.

Love (DL, 6-3, 320, Bethune-Cookman) joins the Empire for his third season as a member of the IFL. In 2016, Harold played for the Dodge City Law of the CIF where he saw action in 12 games and recorded 55 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and six sacks.

During the 2015 IFL season, Harold played in five games for current Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford as a member of the Tri-Cities Fever. He recorded 7.5 total tackles and one blocked kick. In 2014 as a member of the AFL's Portland Thunder, Love recorded 7.5 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss in four starts. He also played in four games with the Fever that season and recorded 15 total tackles, three sacks, four tackles for loss, and one blocked kick.

Love finished his collegiate career at Bethune-Cookman (FL) where he collected 92 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, eight quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one pass break-up. After his senior year, he earned Second Team All-MEAC honors. Before transferring to BCU, Harold spent two years at Feather River College (CA). Harold played his prep career at Grant High School in Portland, Oregon.

Additional Transactions (2-16-17): Spokane released Thomas Shuler (WR, 6-0, 195, Marshall), Larry Mazyck (OL, 6-7, 330, Kansas), Pat McNeil (DL, 6-3, 320, Middle Tennessee State), Mikingston Marasaille (OL, 6-6, 345, FAU), and Malcolm Griggs (DB, 6-3, 210, New Hampshire). Orlandus Harris Sr. (WR, 6-1, 200, Eastern Kentucky) was placed on the refuse to report list. The Empire signed Carl Sims (WR, 6-0, 190, Western Illinois), Bryan Pray (WR, 5-7, 175, Pittsburgh State), and Harold Love III (DL, 6-3, 340, Bethune-Cookman).

HOME OPENER & DOLLAR NIGHT

The Empire kick off their 2017 IFL season at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena on Thursday, February 23 with a 7:00 p.m. PT kickoff against the Green Bay Blizzard. The Home Opener & Dollar Night features $1 sodas and hot dogs at select arena concessions. The team will also raise their 2016 Conference Championship Banner while the first 2,500 fans receive a replica championship banner courtesy of Pterra.
