Empire Dance Team Tryout Schedule Announced

SPOKANE, Wash. (December 17, 2015) - The Spokane Empire Dance Team and Spokane Elite Dance Studio have announced 2016 tryout registration and schedule details.
Dance Team Tryouts will be held from 1:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Spokane Elite Dance Studio located at 10525 E Sprague Ave in Spokane Valley. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m.
On Sunday, January 3, 2016, finalists will be interviewed from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Spokane Empire Office located at 3212 N Eden Rd in Spokane Valley.
Following the interviews on Sunday, finalists will be invited for callbacks that evening from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Spokane Elite Dance Studio.
TRYOUT SCHEDULE AND DETAILS
First Round - Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Spokane Elite Dance Studio
Registration opens at 12:30 p.m. There will be a $25 fee for participants, cash only. Participants will also be required to complete information and waiver forms and provide a 5" x 7" or larger head-shot, all photos are non-returnable. Registration forms are available online at SpokaneEmpire.com. All participants must be 18 or older at the time of the tryouts (January 2, 2016).
Instruction begins at 1:00 p.m. Tryouts are a closed event and not open to public viewing.
First round tryouts are led by Dance Team Directors Maggie Kazemba and Casandra Morgan.
Participants should wear form-fitting, two-piece dance outfits and comfortable shoes. No jazz pants or baggy pants will be allowed. Please wear dance briefs or boy shorts. It is suggested that participants bring make-up, hair products, a towel, bottle of water and a snack.
After instruction and warm-ups, participants will learn across the floor combinations including basic kicks and turns integrated into a few short, repeating sideline dance routines. Participants will perform in small groups and first cuts will be established after the completion of the first round.
Finalist Interviews - Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Spokane Empire Office
Finalist Interviews will take place 9:00a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Each finalist will schedule a private interview with a small panel of judges consisting of Dance Team Instructors and Empire Front Office Staff. Participants should dress business casual for their interview and look professional.
Finalist Callbacks - Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Spokane Elite Dance Studio
Finalist callbacks will take place from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Callbacks are mandatory for all tryout participants who are selected to advance after the first round. Finalists will be chosen based on scores compiled from their dance routines and interview scores. This round is also closed to public viewing. The 2016 Empire Dance Team will be selected that evening.
Prep classes are still being offered for prospective participants at Spokane Elite Dance Studio.
The final two prep classes are on Sunday, December 20 and Sunday, December 27 from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Participants are not required to attend prep classes, but are highly encouraged. Classes are available at a cost of $15 per class or two for $20. Registration for the prep classes will be handled on-site the day of the classes at Spokane Elite Dance Studio.
